Here’s how our limestone cleaning and restoration process was carried out:
- Stone deep cleaning
The main purpose of this step is to resurface the stone floor and get rid of the chemical stains. This process should not be confused with stone grinding as it does not involve grinding off the top layer of the stone.
Deep cleaning using a coarse diamond pad is a suitable process when the stone floor is not older than ten years. Since it hasn’t yet been exposed to severe wear and tears, deep cleaning can effectively remove stains and other unwanted particles.
- Sealing the raw stone
Once the floor has been cleaned of all the stains and scratches, the process is repeated using the less coarse diamond pad. After this, a stone sealer is used to retain the original surface of the limestone floor.
The major role of the sealant is to protect the top layer of the stone without altering its natural appearance.
- The final wash
This is the final stage of the process where the stone is neutralized of any residue that must have been left behind. It is done by high-speed buffing. This process involves using a small amount of soap. The final wash is done using a specialized machine.
